The Oasis Short Course at Diamante provides a fun and casual experience for golfers of all levels and ages.
The Oasis Short Course features 12 greens, all surrounded by very tightly mown TifDwarf Bermuda, groomed to be firm and fast allowing for shots to be played along the ground. Players will also be able to tailor their experience through the many different ways to use the facility. The 12 hole "par-3" course allows players to choose their own tees from the vast fairway areas, which will provide different yardages and angles that can vary from round to round.
Alternative ways to play The Oasis Short Course include a 3 hole course with a par 4, par 3 and par 5 of regulation lengths; a smaller loop of par 3 holes created by skipping any of the 12 greens; and a wedge and short-game practice area around any of the greens.
Grassed entirely with Bermuda grass, the course provides a true oasis contrasting the open desert landscape. The holes are routed around a pristine lake, surrounded by palms and lush, colorful vegetation.
In addition to the TifDwarf Bermuda green surrounds, the fairways will be grassed with 419 Bermuda and the greens will be TifEagle Bermuda. Playability is emphasized through the fairway height of cut throughout as well as with the lack of waste areas typical to desert courses.
The Oasis Short Course complements the two existing 18 hole courses at Diamante, including the Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal course that opened in 2014.
The overall strategy is similar to that of El Cardonal as players will be presented with options to navigate a route from tee to green, preferred angles of play are defined by feature placement, and green surrounds are shaped with "feeder" slopes to encourage low, running shots or even putters from long distances.
