Chicago's historic Jackson Park and South Shore golf courses will undergo a transformative restoration by TGR Design into an 18-hole championship course. Celebrating the history of Jackson Park Golf Course situated on the site of the 1893 World's Fair and the spectacular lakefront setting of South Shore, the restoration will seek to provide a lasting legacy through a memorable and timeless design that promotes enjoyment and playability for all levels of players.
The urban course will maintain a traditional parkland aesthetic that accentuates the natural features and scenic topography along the shores of Lake Michigan. Multiple holes will meander along the lakefront, offering sweeping views of the Great Lake. Mature hardwoods and tall fescue grasses frame the fairways, though special consideration will be made to provide wide landing areas and ample area around greens to promote playability. Creative shot-making and strategy will be emphasized in the layout that will also focus on shot values to challenge low handicap players.
Aside from the 18-hole championship course, South Shore & Jackson Park Golf Course Restoration will also include state-of-the-art practice facilities.
